Kept is built to be private by default. Your records live on your device, and we collect as little as possible. This policy explains exactly what happens to your data.

What we store

The items, receipts, prices, dates, warranties, and documents you add are stored locally on your device. By default they never leave your phone.

Receipt scanning

When you choose to scan a receipt, the photo is sent to our secure processing function and on to Google's Gemini API solely to extract the purchase details (item, store, price, date). The image is processed transiently to return text and is not stored by us or used for advertising. If you prefer, you can enter items manually and never send a photo.

Optional cloud backup

If you enable cloud backup (a future Pro feature), your records are stored in your own account, protected by row-level security so only you can access them. This is opt-in; with it off, nothing is uploaded.

What we do NOT do

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not track you across apps or websites.
• We do not show third-party ads.

Notifications

Kept schedules local reminders on your device for return windows and warranty deadlines. These are generated on-device.

Deleting your data

Deleting an item removes it and its documents from your device. Uninstalling the app removes all local data. If cloud backup is enabled, you can delete your account to remove synced data.
